Little did I know when I created this piece, I was processing my grief. After my mother died, I spent a few days tearing up pieces of artwork. Why destroy your own art? Because it felt good. As I stared at the heap of torn paper lying on the floor, I decided to piece them back together to form new art. This portrayal of a salmon jumping upstream, is symbolic of my mother’s return home.
